Joy Richmond

I am a WMU graduate in art education. Art has been an important part of my entire life. After a career of teaching in the public school I continue as an instructor in adult watercolor and children’s art classes.

Currently I work in watercolor and pastel. Plein air painting has always intrigued me.  The light is fascinating and ever-changing. I respond to the beauty that we are surrounded with in the changing seasons of Michigan. Outdoor painting just gives an added texture in appreciating and recording the natural world. Working with other plein air artists is a real inspiration and a great learning experience in artistic development.

Samples of Joy's work can be seen at Beneath the Trees Gallery in Allegan.
