Whether it’s standing in a snow bank, layered in clothes, the oil paint tacking up like Elmers glue, or at the edge of a creek in July, hiking boots covered in Deep Woods Off, plein air painting puts me at one with the earth and sky. And pushing paint around in a heroic effort to record the sensibilities of the day is a frustration, a privilege and an absolute joy."
